How to Transport a Car Overseas

There are three ways to ship an automobile overseas – each with its own pros and cons:

  1. RORO (Roll-on/Roll-off) Shipping
  2. Exclusive Container
  3. Consolidated Car Transport

RORO Shipping

– Vehicle is loaded directly onto the ship, and will be driven out upon arrival to your destination to the Port Agent.

  • PROS: Least expensive.
  • CONS: Destinations, space, and security are limited; your car shares space with other items on board and the arrival date is not set in stone.

Exclusive Container

– Your vehicle is packed in its own container.

  • PROS: Ideal for remote destinations. With room to include household items in the container, a precse arrival date, and keys to your very own container, this option is by far the most secure and reliable shipment method available.
  • CONS: Most expensive.

Consolidated Car Shipping

– The most common way to ship your car overseas, vehicle is loaded into a container with other cars, and the Agent will deliver directly to your destination.

  • PROS: Highly economical.
  • CONS: Delivery takes a bit longer, and you are unable to load your car with additional items.
